I created this recipe for Deep Eddy Vodka and Chilled Magazine's "Craft the Fun Cocktail Challenge." As part of my submission, I styled and shot the cocktail in the studio to mimic a pool party. The flamingo cocktail pick I sourced was such a great find. After a bit of research and experimenting, I discovered red pepper is an unexpected way to bring some heat to the tartness of the grapefruit. Once mixed-up, the color reminded me of a flamingo, and thanks to the hit of spice, the El Flamingo del Diablo (aka the Devil’s Flamingo) was born!
