Ogilvy Chicago was looking to launch an international advertising campaign for an award-winning Tequila brand, Avion. The brand wanted to step away from its regular social media & celebrity influencer campaign to do something different. The world of tequila is filled with cliches—celebrity brands, pictures of agave fields and farmers. The goal was to leave the expected behind and change the perception of Avion to become noted as a top-shelf liquor and inculcate a modern Mexican aesthetic to display its roots. This was a large-scale operation with constant mediation between the brand, the agency reps and Timothy Hogan Studios. Good communication and collaboration between all parties was critical to our success. Due to the nature of this shoot, Tim created a Directors Treatment for Ogilvy outlining all the elements of the shoot in detail—from the shot list and the glassware to the backgrounds to be used on set. Tim and his SFX artist Jeremy spent a week testing the shots in the studio so that the shots had been perfected before the actual shoot.
